Our college ministry, Converge, on the campus of College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA), is beginning its fifth year of life-changing ministry. In the last four years, Converge has tripled in its size and is reaching more than 1,000 students through our programs!
Converge Worship Gatherings have become a flagship program for Converge where more than 100 students from diverse backgrounds and denominations are able to come together to worship God and experience community so that they can learn, grow and understand their identity and purpose in life. We have seen an incredible growth in attendance at Worship Gatherings over the past four years that has moved us from a small “warehouse” room in the CCGA student activity center to the campus theatre that is located in the heart of the CCGA Campus. In a college culture where its normal for 75 percent of Christian students to walk away from the local church, Converge has been able to create a place for college students to continue to grow in their spiritual journey, keeping their connection with God and the local churches.
One such student is Morgan Crean, who was an incoming freshman last year at CCGA and had recently become a Christian. Like many freshman students, he came on the campus with an expectation to have a deeper understanding of his identity and purpose in life. Many students try to find these kinds of answers in all the wrong places, which ultimately leads them astray to many painful paths. Morgan connected with Converge on Monday nights and in a short time, he found himself getting connected to a local church and becoming part of our leadership development program.
At Converge, stories like Morgan’s are not hard to find. So many students find their community at Converge through Monday night Worship Gatherings which has allowed them to continue on their faith journey while attending college.
